Anatomical Fantasies of Meat, 2008

Men, since antiquity, has taken dominion over animals to serve our needs and demands. Animals have been domesticated, enhanced, and genetically modified to serve us better.

In this series of work, the “Anatomical Fantasies of Meat,” is a response to our handling of God’s gift to us.

This “fantasy” created from the organs and flesh of various animals will serve as a reminder of human ingenuity, creativity, and sometimes, bestiality.

Symbiosis: Bone - Cement - Technology, 2009

Bone:
Bones, by their very nature, suggest death and decay, and yet at the same time, are also proof of life, civilisation, and what once existed.

Cement:
Cement is the foundation and binding agent of our concrete jungle.

Technology:
Technology has become an integral part of society, for many, almost a basic need in its provision of convenience, innovation and entertainment.

Spurred to explore the notion of existence by the dual-pronged symbolism of bones and compelled to dwell on modern architecture as a visible sign of modern society’s embracing of technology as a need, I would like to bring forth, through the art of assemblage and photography, the concept of Symbiosis: Bone – Cement – Technology, combining symbols of our mortality, modernity and digital lifestyle
